Given that Tina is five years old, her current level per Erikson’s stages of development should be in the third stage other wise called Initiative Vs shame and doubt. The important aspect of this stage is that the child learns independence in attempts to gain some control over his/her environment through simple acts such as picking an outfit or trying to tie their shoes. Here supervision should be exercised to ensure the child’s safety, but they should also be allowed to try to learn new skills. Tina’s situation is different however, as her condition allows very little participation in day to day activities. She may have therefore missed out on certain psychomotor skills subsequently bringing her to lower stage than she should be.
